A Bit About Lennie ...
A graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Lennie Mees, MD, practiced family medicine for twenty years, all the while knowing he should become a teacher, teaching a nation at health risk how to be healthy. Former Phoenix radio talk show host, author of two books, Get a Life, America! and A Change of Heart, and founder and director of Kennis Consulting, a think-tank for health visionaries, Dr. Mees has been a full time health educator and health promoter since 1994. Through speaking, writing, creative film development, and other visionary projects, he’s taking preventive medicine to the next level – assuming, expecting, and achieving health.
His view of health, however, isn’t the linear “exercise and eat your vegetables axiom.” He champions living a well-lived life and shares that having vision, passion, and joy may be more important to health than all of the broccoli in the garden. Quoting Bishop Burroughs, who, in reflecting on why he lived to be 101, said, “I loved my life and the people I served. I had a reason to get up in the morning,” Lennie encourages no one to leave his presence, and the LCO, without identifying why he or she gets up in the morning.
Radio Show Host
While living in Phoenix, Lennie developed and hosted a radio show about healthy lifestyles, Get a Life!
One of his first callers was his daughter, Becky, whom he did not recognize until he got home and heard her tell the story. Huge laughs!
Get a Life, America!
His book about achieving and practicing healthy lifestyles.
Private Pilot
An instrument rated private pilot, he has two rescues to his credit. Don't ask him about the stories as he will too readily tell you.
Emotional Shoeleather ... on the sidewalks of life.
Lennie was raised without the word, "No," in his vocabulary, especially in medical practice. He stayed up nights with dying people, attended gruesome accident scenes and even delivered a baby at home while covering for the attending OBGYN - all very "emotionally expensive" events. He paid a significant price for his dedication - like a significant cardiac arrhythmia (and more). He survived, but wants to help you avoid leaving too much emotional shoeleather on the sidewalks of your life.
Developing and Preserving a Sense of Well-Being
In his "New Life," Lennie meditates regularly, keeps a journal and finds joy in his grandchildren, Anabel and Elsa.
